Recommendations
- Detailed investigation comprising structural engineer, material or quality engineer should be carried out, which involves review of design, drawing, specifications, construction records, testing of collapsed materials.
- Innovative structures without ensuring quality should be avoided.
- Design done by foreign consultant should be verified by a Nepalese consultant to confirm whether he has taken care of our design requirements and his design can be safely implemented in our context.
- Design should be thoroughly implemented during construction.
- Regular monitoring and maintenance should be emphasized.
- Heavy roof especially in long span conditions and public places should be avoided.
- Design report, drawings and construction data (as-built drawing etc) should be safely kept for records.
- The accident site except for rescue operation should not be cleared until necessary record of the site is made by the authority. Debris should be preserved until investigation is complete.
